There’s a little bit of heaven
Tucked behind the superstore
Growing gardens full of veggies
Come with me and let’s explore!

Me and Daddy like to go there,
On a sunny summers day.
We watch all the people gardening,
And there’s space for us to play.

I want to be a dinosaur,
Green and really big.
So let’s make a magic smoothie-
I’ll be roaring with one swig.

We’ll find all the greenest veggies,
And sweet green fruit as well.
Apples, pears, and even spinach-
It tastes great and you can’t tell!

One calm afternoon in the warm Autumn sun, image
When we’d played all day long and had loads of fun,
We tumbled in through the kitchen door,
And collapsed in a heap on the kitchen floor.

Dinner was ready, we all washed our hands,
We were all very hungry, you must understand,
Then we heard a soft buzz, a flitter, a flutter,
And suddenly Dad leapt up like a nutter,

Mummy and daddy and babu and me image
Discovered a city right next to the sea
With playgrounds and rivers and art everywhere
So we packed all our things and left to go there.

We hugged everybody and said our goodbyes
And got on the plane and took to the skies
We flew for a day and a night and a day
Then landed in Melbourne ready to play!

Into the piles of clothes
Like coral.

Wiggling its way across
The strewn socks and slippers

Poetry Workshops for Kids!

poetry posterMy latest adventures with poems have led me to team up with the lovely ladies at Torquay library to create some poetry workshops for 8-12 year olds!

Its going to be great fun for me (and hopefully for the kids too…!) and I am sure they will inspire me with more ideas and new ways to write poetry.

Feel free to spread the word!

The Perfect Pet

I need a prehistoric pet shop lesothosaurus
For the animal I want
It’s not a woolly mammoth
Or a hoe-tusked elephant.

I want to buy a dinosaur
There’s one I’ve got in mind
A Lesothosaurus if you please
I know they’re hard to find.

This valentine I long to dinecheese460
On every kind of cheese
Not just on simple Stilton
Or the kind that you can squeeze.

I’ll have Gorgonzola gnocchi
And gorgeous goats cheese tart
On walnuts, figs and feta
So delicious, where to start!?!

A monster lives beneath our stairs monster 1
It comes out once a week
It’s head is like a rectangle
It’s neck is long and sleek

It’s tummy’s a tornado
It’s tail is long and thin
It sucks up all the crumbs and dust
Whilst making quite a din
